Famous among the Maroons, this traditional delicacy has made its way throughout Suriname. Made out of the juice from the acai fruit, found only in the South American rainforest, the podosiri is neither juice nor pudding due as it has a very different consistency. The population of Suriname has a multi-ethnic background. Hindustanis (people from northern India) comprise 27.4% of the country’s population.
