The cuisine of Sao Tome and Principe is obviously influenced by Portuguese cuisine.
Most recipes are either Portuguese or Brazilian such as canjica, a dessert based on typical Brazilian corn. Fairly standard donuts in their composition and cooking method except the fact that there is crushed ripe banana in the batter. Those donuts traditionally have a more rounded shape and are smoother.

Culture - São Tomé and Príncipe

The music and dance scene of the country is heavily influenced by the Portuguese and African cultures. Principe is the home to the dêxa beat while ússua and socopé rhythms of Sao Tome are well-known. These rhythms and their dances were influenced by Portuguese ballroom dancing. Leoninos, a band from Sao Tome, popularized popular music in the country.

São Tomé’s natural environment is perhaps best discovered through activities such as blood-pumping water sports, challenging mountaineering adventures, or encounters with the country’s fauna and flora. Indeed, there is something for every traveler inclination here. Those with less of a sense of adventure need not be concerned, however, as there are many activities geared toward cultural absorption and relaxation.
